During my involvement in the Heartbeat Information Router Improvement Project for the E.ON Group, I played a central role in enhancing the Heartbeat Information Router (HIR), an application hosted in the Azure Cloud. My responsibilities centered around Azure architecture and cloud engineering, areas where my expertise was directly applied. I began with an analysis of HIR's existing architecture, identifying areas for improvement in alignment with various customer systems. I then crafted a detailed implementation plan for the necessary updates, utilizing the latest in C# 11 and .NET 6 engineering. The most significant part of my role included coordinating the connection of new business areas and applications to HIR within the Azure environment. The focus was on compatibility, performance, and the overall benefit to the business, ensuring a seamless integration with existing structures. My consultation extended to the optimization of internal processes within the Azure Cloud, including the development and fine-tuning of cloud architecture. My enterprise consulting within E.ON's Microsoft Azure space helped in transforming and aligning IT solutions to meet specific business requirements, laying the foundation for a more agile and responsive technology framework. The project showcased my ability to leverage cloud technologies to create efficient and scalable solutions, all tailored to the company's unique needs and objectives.
In the context of its digital projects the GEA Group Services GmbH required consultancy of an Azure Cloud Architect. In the context of the project it was required to review and enhance the architecture for all existing Azure workloads associated with digital services in GEA. Additionally consulting and coaching of internal and external stakeholders in order to design and implement the concept of targeted landing zones to accelerate new digital services was required. Furthermore, withing the project the advise of Azure developers and owners to understand their business requirements and enable them to convert these into technical requirements. In that context i was coaching und supporting the Azure developers into using best automated deployment practices and monitoring standards in the area of cloud infrastructure and applications. Coordination on the project level with the operational- and security roles to design and implement solutions that address availability, security, performance monitoring and alerting for cloud-based workloads. Furthermore, in this project it was required to continually evaluate new emerging cloud technologies and look for ways to evolve and enhance existing workloads to either save costs, simplify administration or offer additional functionality. Lastly, i was the technical lead of the Azure landing zone project in all phases to design, develop and deploy enterprise-scale, complex Azure solutions withing the Azure landing zone. The overall goal of my engagement for GEA was the provision of consultancy services regarding the enhancement of GEA’s cloud architecture.
Implementing a secure and robust Microsoft Azure landing zone in conformity with the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework, while taking the Azure landing zone to the regulatory requirements (compliance) of the Nagel-Group. Design and implementation of a modern private networking concept and connectivity to the corporate network. Providing guidance and hands-on support for the reliable implementation of large-scale IaaS/PaaS projects across the organization on the base of the new Azure landing zone. Empowerment of important key persons within the Nagel-Group in the subjects of cloud security, networks, monitoring, cost management and IAM.
Technical conception of interfaces to additional systems for the existing Identity Management of the “VKB” as well as the creation of migration concepts. Creation of technical documentations and operating manuals. Introduction of Azure DevOps for the CI/CD of “VKB”, architecture of new and modern cloud-based solutions.
Resource-conserving development (based on a minimum of necessary request units in Microsoft Azure) using sophisticated multithreading strategies as well as adherence to the security concepts applicable in the group when using cloud technologies. Ensuring the necessary high availability of the developed microservices.
Design and implementation for the landing zone architecture of the Microsoft Azure environment for the complete BMW Group with focus on the security of the Hybrid Cloud environment as well as adopting a hyperscaler network strategy.
During the project, the fully automated deployment via Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), including an automation strategy covering the network sections (Hub-Spoke) and IT security, was performed conceptually at the beginning and then, in a further step, also the implementation within a hardened environment.
